Welcome to the Preachers' Page

This page is for people who preach or are preparing to preach at Stechford Baptist Church. It's not directly accessible from the rest of the site. If you've stumbled onto it by accident, you are welcome to look around, but this is not a jargon-free zone.

Please contact Edna Wright on 0121 247 1955 if you have any queries on the services (but not for queries about the website).

Sunday Services

The morning service begins at 10:00 am. It is followed by coffee at about 11:00 am. The evening service begins at 6.30 pm and ends at about 7.30 pm.

We usually ask the preacher to just speak and have someone else lead the worship.

In the morning service we are looking for:
• A life-changing hour of meeting with God
• All of the congregation involved
• A powerful and relevant message from the Bible
Typically, the pattern of our service is:
• Opening hymn or song
• Short prayer and Welcome
• Notices and offering
• Lively worship with the music group
• Sermon
• Closing song or hymn

Practical Details

We now use a data projector alongside the Baptist Hymnal (1962) and our Songs of the Spirit.

We encourage preachers to use visual aids. Many preachers now use PowerPoint, but we have also used science experiments, illusions, video clips and even sword fencing.

We have talented musicians, singers and actors in the church. Let us know if you would like a special song or a sketch, and on what theme.

There will be children in for at least the beginning of the service. Teenagers stay for the entire service.
