Knowing God

As human beings, our deepest need is to know God our creator. Knowing God isn’t the same as just knowing about God. There are people with a great deal of theological and Scriptural knowledge who do not have a relationship with God. The Devil knows a great many facts about God and about the Bible. Knowing God is “knowing” in the sense of knowing—and getting to know—a person.

Originally, mankind knew God
Genesis 1:27-31
• Made in God’s image
• God speaks to man and woman
• God blesses man and woman

Sinful man refuses to know God
Romans 1:18-21
• Some things about God are plain from creation
• Man rejects what he knows and worships the creation rather than the creator

How we came to know God
John 1:10-12
• The world did not recognise him
• Those who believed became children of God

Knowing God: our ultimate goal
Philippians 3:7-11
• All the other (possibly good things) are mere rubbish compared with knowing Christ.
