Looking for a more local church? |

Do you live in (or near) Stechford but go to a church some distance away? And are you searching for more reality and commitment in your Christian life? You may find more opportunities for spiritual growth at a church nearer where you live. This page explains why.
Looking for something more traditional? Corpus Christi is a large Roman Catholic church with its own school. It straddles Albert and Lyttelton Roads. |
The case for local churches The New Testament pattern is that Christians met with other believers as close to where they lived as possible. In fact, when believers travelled, or were forced to move because of persecution, they set up new, often temporary fellowships wherever they went. In the modern world, where large numbers of people suffer from a sense of disconnection, and where communities are fragmenting, the local church has a key role to play — even when a big, non-local church may seem very attractive because of its worship or teaching experience Local churches: • Have credibility in their local communities — something which cannot be replaced, no matter how good the publicity. • Offer close fellowship, with accountability from one believer to another • Have opportunities for ministry at all levels— including for leadership • Have Bible teaching focussed on local needs and situations • Are convenient for local people to get to — much easier for inviting people |
