Every child matters…

Stechford Baptist is working actively with the community as part of the overall national approach known as Every Child Matters to improve children's health and well-being.

As part of this, we have in place a Child Protection Policy and a Children's Advocate.

The Child Protection Policy sets out what we are doing to protect children. This includes

• making sure they come to no harm while in our care

• creating safe space for them to talk to a trusted adult who is not a child or youth worker within the church

• being vigilant about signs of child abuse or bullying in the rest of a child's life.

In this, it is not our intention to be busy-bodies, nor do we have any formal link with Social Services or other non-church bodies responsible for children.

But we do recognise that there have been a number of desperate situations where a range of agencies and bodies have overlooked the signs of abuse, and children have suffered and even died as a result.
